Team Captains

Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club seeks to provide strong leadership opportunities for all of our players and to reward those who clearly lead by example and reflect the values of the Club.

UNDER 8s to 12s– Opportunity to be TEAM CAPTAIN

The coach shall appoint a captain and /or co-captain each week. A player shall not be reappointed until all players have had the chance of being a captain.

UNDER 13s to 14s – LEADERSHIP GROUP

All players who are interested in junior football leadership can OPT INTO a leadership group of their season's team. All players that are interested in leadership at the Club will be welcomed into the group (this is NOT a vote in role but rather an opportunity to learn).
Players in the leadership group should have a team first attitude, display teamwork attributes at training and during game day. They should encourage others around them in a positive manner.
The leadership group will be given opportunities throughout the season to demonstrate maturity, lead by example, respect of the players and, most importantly, comply with the Club’s Behaviour policy.
Opportunities available: (recommended but not limited to)

  • lead back, forward and mid sections during a game
  • address the team pre and post game
  • lead drills at training
  • discuss with coaches their thoughts and game analysis about games played and opportunities for improvement of the entire team.
  • represent the team during club functions

Note - this is an opt in opportunity - players are not expected or required to be added to the list. No player shall be turned away from the leadership group.

Under 15s to Colts/Youth Girls – TEAM CAPTAINS

Only a single captain should be appointed for the teams. The teams should also appoint a vice captain or vice captains. The coaches are to invite the players to confidentially vote on who they believe should be the captain. The coach should ensure that the captain demonstrates maturity, leads by example, has the respect of the players and, most importantly, complies with the Club's Behaviour policy.

CLUB CAPTAINS

Each season the Club shall appoint a Club Captains, and 2 Vice Captains consisting of one boys captain and one girls captain. The criteria for appointing these captains shall include leadership skills, community participation and values, and communication skills as per the Sharks Club Captain Selection Policy. The boy captains shall be appointed from the Colts Team and the girls captain shall be appointed from the Youth Girls Team. The captains shall, in consultation with their coach, arrange for each top age Colt player and top age Youth Girls player to attend at least one Under 8, Under 9 or Under 10 boys or Under 10 girls training session to assist with coaching.
